Check Yourself! Six simple steps to help detect early signs of oral cancer.
- Head and Face: Check for bumps, swelling or any discoloration.
- Neck: Use your hands to gently feel up and down your neck for any tenderness or lumps.
- Cheeks: Look and feel for discoloration or bumps both in and outside.
- Lips: Check both the in and outside of your lips. Use your fingers to pull your lips away. Be on the lookout for any lesions or discoloration.
- Tongue: Stick out your tongue to check for abnormal coloring, lumps, and lesions. Examine all sides.
- Roof and floor of your mouth: Use your fingers to examine this area. Carefully check for any blisters or lesions.
Identifying symptoms can be key to preventing cancer and saving your life!
